The guy who wrote them seems to be a control freak manager.
However they do seem like a decent set of guidelines.
I think I would have to agree on the “control freak” part. I haven’t read through many of them, but I did listen to the DNR episode.
Personally I think that in this case fewer are better. I know that Adam is trying to “reduce cycles”, but I think that many rules actually increases them to some extent. I like to stick with a few important standards. There is no need to overwhelm your developers.
I also heard about him on DNR.
To be fair his company does sell software that imposes
these rules. However overzelous application of rules, while it may ease the movement of developers between products (as they all look the same) could limit development in appropriate directions.
